Happy New Year everyone! I know this has most likely been said a million times BUT where did 2016 go?? The years just fly by quicker and quicker ever since I graduated college. I can’t be the only one who feels that way right? However, I am so excited for the new year! I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings. I have so many plans in my mind for what I want to happen but as they say, we plan and God laughs.
Anyway, I know one thing 2017 has brought already and that’s freezing cold weather to New York. Winters can be brutal here – freezing cold temps, snow storms, extreme wind, and ice everywhere. I always question those who say winter is their favorite season because it is for sure my least favorite. Even though I have no love for winter, I do love good winter fashion pieces. Winter fashion has to pull triple duty – be cute, practical, and keep me warm.
While I do love most beanies, a black one is usually my go to. It’s probably the New Yorker in me but black goes with everything. When in doubt, throw on black. I never have to worry about a black beanie clashing with anything I’m wearing.
2. Tech Gloves
I received these Echo tech gloves for Christmas and they are the perfect winter accessory. Unfortunately, they are sold out now but I’ve linked some similar ones below. They keep my hands nice and warm but I don’t have to take them off to snap pictures or check on Instagram.
3. Snow Boots
I need snow boots that can blend into the rest of my outfit. Most snow boots scream “Hey look at me I’m snow boots!” and while they may be popular, they don’t really work for me. Tundra boots work perfectly for me because one – they are black, two they blend in the most snow boots possibly can so I don’t have to change out of them when I get to the office. I own the Tundra Ruth pair for about 5 years now and they are my favorite pair I’ve ever owned.
When the wind really picks up here, sometimes a hat alone just won’t cut it. I need a coat with a fuzzy hood attached to it. L.L. Bean coats are one of my favorite because they are warm and not bulky. I don’t feel like the little brother in A Christmas Story. I own this one and it has an inside pocket and the outside pockets zip closed – such a convenience!
Who doesn’t love cute fuzzy pajama sets? I always feel like the cold seeps into my bones so even inside my house, I usually still feel cold. Since I can’t just raise the heat all the way up to 90 because I don’t want to pay a high oil bill adult problems, I settle for fuzzy pajama sets with cute matching socks or slippers.
